Topics to be covered:

Hand & ultrasonic scaling   

Following an introductory lecture, we will present proper techniques for hand and ultrasonic scaling.  This will include both supra and subgingival scaling for maximum benefit.

Instrument care and sharpening

Attendees will rotate through different stations learning to sharpen dental instruments both by hand and honing device.

Pain management and regional anesthesia (local nerve blocks) 

This session will detail the major options for pain management in canine and feline patients, highlighting new products and techniques.  Following a lecture discussion, all attendees will practice and learn proper nerve block techniques on skulls.

Dental radiology

This section will begin with a short lecture on simplified techniques for obtaining dental radiographs with more ease and efficacy. Next, attendees will have hands-on opportunity to practice & perfect radiograph techniques using cadaver skulls. This session can provide introductory training or a good refresher for obtaining better images of “hard to get” teeth.
